Blog of the Week: Gluten Free Boston Girl

This week's blog of the week is Jessica who writes Gluten Free Boston Girl!

Meet Jessica:

My name is Jessica. I have been living gluten free since January 2009. I’ve learned a lot in the past few years. It’s been an adventure, and a challenge at times. I love to go to new restaurants and try new foods, and being gluten free can make eating out difficult. When I first moved to Boston there was no one website I could go to to find restaurants with gluten free menus or gluten free friendly. I would read reviews and search endlessly every time I wanted to eat out. After a while I was compiling a nice list and decided to make it public. From there, my ideas grew, to include reviews of my dining experiences, products and sharing my favorite recipes.

These are my stories of being a 20-something year old in the city, eating out and trying new foods, all while trying to NOT eat gluten. I also love to bake and cook. I’m not one to follow a recipe and I love to explore with new ingredients and cuisines all the time.

Like I said, it’s an adventure and you are welcome to come along… Please note that as I try to eat gluten free 100% of the time, I’m not always so good at it. My intolerance is not as severe as others – I can eat foods fried in the same fryer or cooked in the same pans – so please use caution when dining at restaurants that are not certified gluten free.

I am always open to suggestions and recommendations! Please e-mail me at with any questions, comments, concerns, advertising inquires, and anything else you’d like to ask or share with me!

Thanks Jessica!  Be sure to check out her blog this week and say hi!

"About Me" Page Hop!

This week's Tuesday link up we are going to do something a little different!  Instead of linking up one of your social media links, we will be linking up with our "about" pages from our blogs!

This idea came out of our first twitter chat, where a lot of people expressed interest in sharing their "about" pages and seeing other bloggers pages!  This is a great way to get to know your fellow Northeast bloggers, as well as see ideas for "about me" pages for your own blog!  Who knows, you may see an awesome about page you love and find ways to improve your own!

Please link up to your blog's "about me" page, not to your blog's main url.  If you do not have an about me page, you can link up with a post that is all about you!

P.S.- Don't forget about our November Photography Challenge!  It will stay open to link up through Friday, November 29th!

Friday Five: 5 Winter Essentials!

Hey, everyone!
I am excited to be one of the new North East bloggers! I blog over at Letters from a Mermaid.

I go to school in Western PA and am in love
with the sprawling hills and countryside.  I am originally from Ohio.

What is one thing these two places have in common?
You guessed it: SNOW.
At home I am actually in the snow belt, which can lead to up to 2 and a half feet in one night.
I am going to show you my 5 essentials for getting through a long and very cold winter!

My American Eagle green cargo trench jacket which is perfect for transitioning from class to clinical,

dinner to the library and maybe even a night out.  It is extremely versatile due to the fabric...not
too dressy, not too casual.

Josie Maran Argan Oil. I swear by this stuff.

Having to walk out to my car in an adjacent parking lot during the brutal winds blowing off Lake Erie
can certainly do its damage on my skin. 2 drops of argan oil smeared onto the face at night
repairs all of the damage and hydrates my skin. Rather than make my face greasy,
argan oil actually replaces the fatty acids leaving it glowing and feeling much healthier
the next morning.

3.  Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips

Do not be intimidated by the $14 price tag on this baby.

I promise your face will be glowing, hiding that ghostly color as your summertime tan fades!
The five shades of bronzer allow you to whisk your brush over the top and prevent you from getting
the orange/too dark of a color. I am very fair skinned and can match the tone to my skin perfectly.

4.   Pumpkin Pie Candles from Yankee.

The only scent that is not too overwhelming and perfectly pleasant.

Ralph Lauren Bridle Print Wellies.
Fiercely face the snow, the rain, sleet, hail...pretty much anything.

What are some of your favorite accessories to face the winter?!

November Photo Challenge!

Welcome to the Photography Challenge for November!  This months theme is: Thankful.
Because of the mix up last month & possible confusion over the theme for this month, this link up will stay open through November 29th!  That gives your over a week to submit your photo for the theme "thankful."

Please be sure to visit other blogs on this hop if you link up and leave a comment on their photo!

Remember you can link up to a post with the photo you want to show off, or to your instagram photo that fits the monthly theme.  Please do not link up to your blogs main page, this link up is for the photography challenge only!

Next month we will resume with picking a featured blogger from the previous month's link up!  That randomly selected person will be showcased in our December post!

The theme for the December Challenge is: holiday.  I am leaving this really open ended so you can interpret it in so many ways- what does holiday mean to you?  December's link up will be on December 20th
